Battlefield 4 CTE vs. Battlefield: Hardline

More than likely, most readers here have already heard the rumors (it really was the worst kept secret) and seen the leaked videos of the upcoming title, Battlefield: Hardline. Because of the leak last week, EA and Visceral were forced to confirm the new Battlefield IP. More is to be revealed at E3 next week, and prominent YouTube personalities have been flown to Visceral studios and allowed to record gameplay. Uploads of this gameplay are allowed to begin June 9.

So, what is Battlefield: Hardline? Put basically, it is a game about cops and robbers. It is not entirely clear how it fits in the Battlefield franchise, but one can assume it is going to have the same core gameplay mechanics, destruction, Levolution, and combination of vehicle and infantry combat found in other BF titles...

DICE launches Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment

WTF over.

Interested in helping DICE fix their triple-A title (which many argue should be the duty DICE itself and not the players that spent $60) by beta testing upcoming patches? DICE has launched the Community Test Environment (CTE) which is available to BF4 Premium members only. It’s not clear if it will be expanded to console versions of the game as well. You can get involved by logging in to this website with your Origin ID, downloading the CTE game client and installing the Battlelog browser plug in.

Battlefield 4 Megalodon Easter Egg Found

The Megalodon search is over.

A four month community-wide hunt for the rumored giant prehistoric shark Easter Egg thought to of been hidden in Battlefield 4′s Paracel Storm map has come to a successful end. YouTube game commentator Jackfrags and several players have finally found the Megalodon. The giant shark was added in Battlefield 4′s Naval Strike DLC, on the Nansha Strike map.

Published Friday on YouTube, JackFrags captured in-game footage with several players in a coordinated effort to trigger the Megalodon Easter Egg hidden on the map. To find the shark, 10 players must gather around a specific buoy near the main island and simply wait. Once triggered, the Megalodon will leap out from the water and crush the players gathered around the buoy.

Battlefield 4 Netcode: DICE Speaks

bf4-second-assault-wallpaper2In a blog post released today, DICE revealed how they are working on various major issues that have been plaguing the game. Netcode, tickrates, collision models and other issues were all addressed, and there was also confirmation for fixes in upcoming patches.

The game receives updates from the game server and displays these to the player using a system called latency compensation – this system makes sure players move around naturally on your screen when network updates arrive. We have found and fixed several issues with latency compensation, and thereby decreased the impressions of “one hit kills” in the game.”

From the onset, it was clear that the “One Hit Kill” bug was being caused by multiple factors, but it looks like more are being worked on.
